Monica Bloyer
Assistant Coach

2010 will be Monica Bloyer's first season on the sidelines at her alma mater.

Bloyer spent the past spring working with the Tea Area Under-17 Olympics volleyball squad in Tea, S.D. Her coaching duties included player assessment, scouting and developing practice plans for the club’s athletes.

As a Sioux Falls Cougar, she participated in several youth volleyball clinics and camps, where she instructed campers about proper hitting technique and helped hone their mechanics. She also coached at a number of Indian Hills Community College volleyball clinics.

“Monica was selected from our assistant coach position due to her strong game knowledge and passion for the sport,” said Mathes-Peters. “She was a fiery competitor on the court, so I am looking forward to having that energy in the gym and on the bench,” she added.

During her Sioux Falls playing career, Bloyer was one of the team’s leaders in kills, blocks and digs. She also served as a team co-captain in 2007.

Prior to her two years at Sioux Falls, Bloyer played two seasons at Indian Hills Community College, where she garnered All-Region XI and tournament MVP honors in 2005. The Warriors advanced to the NJCAA Division 1 Tournament both years, earning a third place finish in 2004 and a fifth place finish in 2005.

Hailing from Schaller Crestland High School (Iowa), Bloyer was a three-time member of the Iowa All-State Volleyball Team.

Bloyer graduated from Sioux Falls in May of 2009 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
